LADIES RETREAT 2014

Dear Coordinators, Sisters, and Friends:

We, the ‘Retreat’ committee, hope that your summer has been pleasant and restful. We hope you spent part of this restful time to reflect on this year’s ‘Retreat’ message of ‘The Plan’. 

 

​Surely sisters, you could not help but dialog with others and had reflective moments on how God’s daughters, through those powerful, heartfelt testimonial speeches, inspired hope in our discouraged hearts. They, those redeemed daughters of God, who were brought back from the brink of depression and sometimes despair, gave us the spiritual prescription on how to submit to The Most High God and again become spiritually healthy. Whereby, we could come home again, go out into our communities, our schools, and effectively do work in God’s earthly Kingdom for His Glory. 

 

Now as we look ahead, we invite you to attend the 37th Annual Northeastern Ladies Retreat held May 30 through June 1, 2014 at the Wyndham Hotel in Gettysburg, PA. There we will we focus on the theme, “The Hallway of My Life” (John 12:26).

 

Accomodations



Each person will be responsible for making her own arrangements with the Wyndham Hotel.  Standard rooms have been set aside for our use.  Each room is available with a single king bed or two double beds.  The rates are as follows:



 
A) Single to Quadrapule Occupancy                        $129 plus 11% tax

Please note: 

Based on last year’s attendance we have contracted for only 200 people. The hotel will only honor this rate until May 1, 2014.  After the deadline, the rooms will be released and the group rate is no longer available. Therefore, it is very important to be sure to reserve your space as soon as possible. Remember, this price is based on availability.

If you choose to call, please be sure to identify yourself as a participant with the Northeastern Ladies Retreat. This will ensure you receive the hotel rates stated above.

Registration



The Retreat registration fee for this year is: $235  for adults & $110  for children ages 5 – 12 (no charge for children 4 & under). These monies cover the cost of food, badges, etc. As mentioned, though the registration fee may be paid in installment, the current state of our economy has made it increasingly difficult to come up with these payments.  For this reason, one of our sisters has come up with a wonderful idea.  She suggests each sister set aside at least $5.00 per week.  In this way, each registration installment can be paid with minimal stress.


Payments and Schedule



The payment schedule for Retreat registration & transportation is as follows:

1st  Payment  - October 15
2nd Payment  - December 15
3rd Payment  - February 15
4th Payment  - April 15



Enclosed you will find a payment registration form. This form should accompany each payment submitted. Only church checks or money orders will be accepted. Make all checks/money orders payable to the Northeastern Ladies Retreat and forward to:

No partial installment payments. Please either pay the registration in full or send the full installment for each date noted.

The installment schedule has been instituted to ensure easy tracking of all payments for us, and for you as well.  Therefore, we humbly request … please, 

pleeease sisters, follow it. Send no more than four payments per person.

Please do not send names without money.  We cannot make arrangements for anyone without a payment.

 

If you find you cannot attend the Retreat your monies may be refunded.  However, since we must make a monetary commitment to the hotel, the deadline for reimbursement is March 15.



Introduction of Congregations

This year’s theme “The Hallway of My Life” centers around personal reflection.  “The Hallway” represents the path our lives have taken.  In this hallway are reminders of our victories as well as our God forgiven failures.  There are pictures on the walls of our individual hallways of grievous moments… But thank God there are also pictures of wonderful happy times… of birthdays, family gatherings, baptisms and celebrations!

 

This year we want to take snapshots of some wonderful retreat memories and place it on display in the “Retreat Hallway”.  

 

With this in mind, the theme of the 2014 introduction of congregations is “Memories Behind the Door”.

 

Here are your instructions…

Step 1Have a discussion – We ask each congregation to discuss and then choose one or more memorable Retreat moment(s).  This moment could come in the form of a speech that touched you, the afterhours laugh fests that lightened you spirits, the game shows (that are biblical and  just plain old FUN)… anything that may have had a affect on your lives.

Step 2Gather your photographs – Gather photos that illustrate the special moment(s) you have chosen.  You don’t have any pics?   Recreate the moment and take a picture.

 

For Example:  If you wish to use last year’s scavenger hunt as your moment but you don’t have a pic… Have the ladies in your congregation wear their Retreat t-shirts.  Then have them gather around one sister who is holding a piece of paper (representing the scavenger hunt questions).  Take the picture.  Viola! You have created a memory pic.

 

You may opt to choose one big picture or several smaller ones.  Choose as many or few as you would like.

                  
Step 3Create your “Memories Behind the Door” – Purchase a tri-fold display board (the kind you child may have used for their science fair project).

 

Arrange your pictures on the inside of the display board.
 

The outside of the board will become your door or doors. I know how absolutely creative you are, ladies.  I am sure these doors are going to be something wonderful to behold!

 

Next, place the name of your congregation on the top portion of your board and the theme(s) of the retreat(s) where your special memories took place on the bottom

 

Step 4Coordinate Your Colors – Since we want every congregation to stand out, we ask that your ladies adorn themselves in a color of your choosing.

After the Saturday morning Introduction of Congregations has been completed, these wonderful memory boards will be displayed for all to see.

 

Wow!!! This is going to be Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!!!!


Ettiquette

Remember sisters… this is smoke free retreat. As always… our goal, by the Retreat’s end, is for our spirits to be relaxed, rejuvenated and ready for further work in God’s Kingdom. The next letter will contain a list of our speakers and more information concerning our program.
